A free AI advisor, strategy companion and save analyzer for Europa Universalis V (EU5).
EU5 AI Companion pauses your loaded campaign, requests a fresh save at the exact current game date, reads the relevant player-visible state, and gives contextual answers through Groq or OpenAI. The goal is to help players understand EU5’s simulation rather than replace the player.
Important: EU5 AI Companion is not a screen-reading or computer-vision tool, does not use microphone/voice control, does not autoplay the game, and is not an Europa Universalis IV predecessor. It was built specifically for Europa Universalis V.
What can the EU5 AI advisor explain?

- Military forces, manpower and army composition as save retrieval expands.

How EU5 AI Companion works
When a question needs live campaign information, the Companion confirms and pauses the campaign, creates COMPANION_LIVE.eu5, reads it with Rakaly, extracts only the campaign data required for the question, and passes that compact context to the selected AI provider.
Fresh-state capture is intentional: answers should correspond to the campaign state now, not to an older monthly autosave.

No. The Companion reads EU5 save-state data instead of using screen capture or computer vision.

No. The current application is text-based.

No. It is an advisor. The player retains control of every gameplay decision and action.
Is it free?
Yes. The project is intended to remain free. Users may still need their chosen AI provider credentials depending on provider configuration.

No. EU5 AI Companion is an unofficial community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paradox Interactive.

This is an early public alpha for Windows and non-Ironman Advisor Mode. Economy and market analysis are currently the deepest areas; military, diplomacy and other systems are being expanded through direct EU5 save retrieval.
